Kintyre has much to offer including sandy beaches, sailing, hill and forest walks and is a haven for wildlife with occasional opportunities to observe dolphins, otters and whales. The Gulf Stream creates a milder climate on the West Coast of Scotland than is experienced further east.
Carradale Estate is a residential estate which is set in amongst mature policy woodlands and rhododendrons with an imposing period mansion overlooking the sea. In 1844 the original 18th century house was replaced with a new house for Richard Campbell designed by the distinguished architect David Bryce.
Carradale
Estate was the home, until her death in 1999 of the celebrated socialist and
novelist, Lady Naomi Mitchison. She and her husband Dick acquired the property
in 1937. The present owners Colin and Laraine Burgess are currently renovating
the Estate back to its former glory.
